Why chassis matters
Two trucks with the same kit on order can have completely different installs. The factors that drive chassis-specific procedure: alternator headroom for compressor amp draw, factory dual-battery vs single-battery, factory air system (Class 8 only), engine bay clearance for trumpets, frame-rail real estate for the tank, and hybrid 12V auxiliary battery rules.
Light-duty pickup playbook
F-150, Silverado 1500, RAM 1500, Tundra share install architecture: 200-240 A factory alternator, single battery, no factory air, hood-mount trumpets or bed-mount Shocker XL, 5-gal aftermarket tank under bed. General pickup playbook covers all of them with alternator-headroom math by truck. F-150-specific playbook handles 12th/13th/14th gen aux fuse panel locations, PowerBoost hybrid wiring caveats. Compact pickups (Tacoma, Ranger, Maverick, Frontier) face engine-bay space constraints — use Stebel Nautilus or Kleinn Direct Drive 6126.
HD diesel pickup playbook
F-250 / F-350 PSD, RAM 2500/3500 Cummins, and Silverado HD / Sierra HD Duramax all ship factory dual-battery — they handle dual-compressor builds and 1NM-class kits without any electrical modification. F-250 playbook walks Power Stroke aux fuse panel + Kleinn SDKIT17 1-hour bolt-on direct fit. Chevy / GMC playbook covers K2XX vs T1XX generation differences and Z71/Trail Boss/AT4/ZR2 considerations.
Class 8 semi playbook
Owner-operator semis (Peterbilt, Kenworth, Cascadia, Volvo, Mack, International) have factory air systems running 120-150 PSI. Skip the compressor and tank entirely — plumb a high-flow solenoid directly to the wet tank for full 149.4 dB DJD-verified output. Class 8 install playbook covers the wet-tank tap procedure, FMCSA §393.50 compliance (do not tap brake reservoir), and chassis-specific mount strategy.
Universal accessories
Spare-tire mount adapter is the universal-fit bracket category — bolt-on adapters that mount the air tank in the spare-tire well so you don't lose bed-floor space. Tank capacity by truck (1.5-3 gallon depending on spare-tire well dimensions).
Once you've picked the chassis, narrow to the specific kit at best kit picks, or pick the install style at type.
